Stylish and Safe Riding: Discover Bowtex technical underwear
The technical undergarments from Bowtex offer safety on the motorcycle without compromising your style. You can easily wear these "undercover" motorcycle clothes under your normal clothing without it being noticeable. Let's take a look at the story and mission of Bowtex.
Origin and story of Bowtex
Bowtex was founded by Robert Souery, a passionate rider who was dissatisfied with the limited range of stylish motorcycle clothing. He wanted to be free from these constraints and in response, developed a protective legging that he could wear under his favorite jeans.
It didn’t take long before Bowtex also developed protective shirts, which can easily be worn under a regular sweater or jacket. Gone are the days of bulky motorcycle pants and shapeless motorcycle jackets! From now on, you can ride in style and be protected without compromise while riding your motorcycle.

Mission of Bowtex
Bowtex strives to provide the best protection: underwear that is abrasion-resistant and durable, but also light and flexible enough to fit easily under normal clothing. To achieve this unique combination of protection and comfort, Bowtex uses materials such as Dyneema® and Dupont™ Kevlar®.
Dyneema® is a fiber that is 15 times stronger than steel and light enough to float on water. This soft, comfortable fabric is used in the Essential Ultralight and Elite base layers.
Dupont™ Kevlar® is, as the name suggests, a Kevlar fiber woven into the fabric. In combination with Coolmax®, it is used in the Essential underwear.
European made, high quality
Bowtex is a Belgian company with its headquarters in Brussels. For development and production, they collaborate with local partners in Western Europe, ensuring high quality without offshore outsourcing. This supports the local European economy and limits CO2 emissions.
The Bowtex Essential line is CE Level AA certified, while the Bowtex Elite line is CE Level AAA certified. Bowtex was the first manufacturer of motorcycle underwear to reach this highest level.

Bowtex versus motorcycle jeans
A motorcycle jeans or Kevlar jeans is made of regular jeans fabric that is reinforced with Kevlar thread. However, an AA or AAA certified motorcycle jeans can quickly become stiff and immobile, especially AAA variants. By combining a Bowtex legging with a looser woven regular jeans, you get a more airy result and maintain your freedom of movement. If it gets colder, you can wear thicker pants or use thermal underwear to stay warm.
Why choose Bowtex undergarments?
With Bowtex motorcycle clothing, you can wear any outfit in your closet on the motorcycle. Want to keep your own style without having to wear a heavy motorcycle jacket and pants? Then Bowtex has the solution. Their protective underwear offers an excellent safety rating and is super light. People will not notice that you are wearing a fully abrasion-resistant armor under your regular clothes. You can easily carry Bowtex clothing in your backpack if you do not want to wear it throughout the day.
For city use, Bowtex recommends the Essential line with an AA rating. For longer rides, with many miles on the highway, Bowtex advises the Elite line with a AAA rating.

For every body type
At RAD we often recommend Bowtex underwear for people with unusual sizes. Having trouble finding motorcycle pants that fits well? Bowtex clothing comes with stretch, so you don’t suffer from a poor fit and are still well protected. This is especially important during long rides, where comfort without sacrificing safety is essential.
